Maine Lobster Restaurants – Lobster Pounds

This is an experience you can not miss if you travel to Maine for a vacation. Planted along the side of the road, these lobster pounds are casual eating establishments often frequented by locals and tourists alike. So, if you want to do it like a real Mainer, you pull into one of these pit stops, step up to the lobster tank and pick out your own live “lobstah”, as they call it in Maine.  They usually weigh it right in front of you, and in about 15 minutes or so you’ll be feasting on the best lobster you’ve ever eaten. Two of Maine’s most popular lobster pounds can be found while driving along Bar Harbor Road in Trenton. They are Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound and Down East Lobster Pound. Trust me on this –you can’t go wrong with either of these if you’re a real “lobstah” fan. You can also get your lobsters to go, by the pound, of course!

Places to Stay in Maine – Bed and Breakfast Inns

If you really want to splurge on your Maine vacation, try out some of the Bed and Breakfast Inns for a touch of class. These cozy, privately owned accommodations can often provide a sense of personal care and comfort that is sometimes overlooked by the motel chains. You can get a room with your own fireplace. How romantic is that?!

Things To Do In Maine

Of course while you’re vacationing in Maine, you’ll want to venture out and see the sights, maybe take a hike in beautiful Acadia National Park, stand atop Cadillac Mountain and look out over Bar Harbor – or even go lobster fishing in a real lobster boat. Maybe you’d like to see some Puffins or take a day cruise on a schooner. YES! You can do all these… on your Maine vacation!
