Motel 6 in Augusta, Maine – this one gets a thumbs up. But first, I have one suggestion – when a person reserves a room, and they ask for a room in the back, off the street so it’s  quieter, don’t tell them the room is guaranteed – we just don’t know which one! Try and accommodate by giving the guest a few possible choices, especially when you mention in the same breath there are a lot of vacancies. Now for the good news; Nick Patel, the GM, was very nice – polite and hospitable. He was not the one who took my reservation, so he’s in good with me! Next, the front desk manager on duty, Richard, the “Stephen King Lookalike”, was very excellent with customer service skills. When I asked to see a room, he left the front desk and walked to the room with me to open the door.  Nice gesture!  When you stay in a small, economic hotel like Motel 6, the staff is at least as important as the room, so when we comment on customer service – you know what we mean. Also, don’t miss the Christmas Tree Shops, right around the block in the mall. Great deals on shopping items – and not crowded.

Boy rates this motel – 2 paws up!
